Ross and Kaitlyn planned a beautiful summer wedding on her parents’ property in Upland, our small Indiana town. Kaitlyn and her family had put their HEART, SOUL, and TALENTS into this wedding. Every detail was perfectly thought through.
So what do you do when there’s rain, rain, rain, and more rain leading up to your wedding in a field? I’m sure you panic; I’m sure you stress. The weather was clearly not as they would have envisioned in their heads, but Troy and I knew that– even with the cold, wind, and rain on June 27– that this would be a wedding with an incredible story. And what a story it was…
Can we all just think about the fact that this is a bride with perfect hair and makeup that is now trusting us to stand in rain and insane wind to take these pictures?! Thank you, Kaitlyn! And thank you beautiful veil and sash for looking so great in the wind 🙂
Ross and Kaitlyn have a running joke about what shoe is better: Converse or Nike. The wedding party, parents, grandparents, and guests joined in the fun!
The rain plan was to hold the ceremony in the reception tent, but as guests started to arrive and the rain stopped, many folks pitched in to prepare the ceremony site. I loved how everyone worked together! The ceremony started late and they decided it was too muddy to set up chairs, but guess what?! It didn’t matter! This was about celebrating Ross and Kaitlyn!
It takes a special couple– and special families– and special guests– to just roll with it. We’re grateful to have been a part of this day– to see the love shown from everyone in attendance– and to see that even a rainy, muddy, windy wedding day can be celebratory, joy-filled, and beautiful!
