The Barn on Boundary wedding. We’ve been anxious to shoot at this new venue that’s just right down the road from our tiny Indiana town. We’ve heard great things about the barn venue and it’s owner, Kristy, and it did not disappoint!

You may remember Lance and Mallory from their engagement session last fall. We love the opportunity to photograph engagement sessions because it allows us to spend time with our brides and grooms before their wedding day!

The Couple

Mallory’s grandfather and Lance’s father coached basketball together so they’ve known each other their whole lives. When she was in middle school, she always had a huge crush on Lance– who was then a high school basketball player! But that crush turned into something more her freshman year while attending Ball State. That was four years ago…

The Wedding

When I first met Mallory, we discussed her barn wedding. She had the dress, the look, and the day envisioned– sparkles, glitz, and deep purple hues. Her vision played out perfectly…

Here’s a few of our favorites from the day!

We were so excited to photograph this special couple’s Marion, Indiana engagement session.

They met on Myspace. They had a common “friend,” Zac Braff. They loved the TV show, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, and Miles commented on the presidential election and Cat responded. True love, folks. You never know where you’ll find it! 🙂 That was four years ago.

A long distance relationship, a move from Florida to Indiana, and now a wedding!

I met Miles and Cat last fall and immediately connected with them. They’re the duo behind Cat Alkire Photography so we had plenty to talk about! With our schedules, we don’t get a lot of time to swap stories with other wedding photographers!

And then we found out that Miles is a Buckeye. Now I will fully admit that I’ve coined the phrase, “It doesn’t change anything in my life,” while watching Ohio State play, but I am unique for our family. Troy, our parents, and our whole extended family is OBSESSED. Even our 92 year old grandma will ask me what I thought of “the game.” So to discover that Miles is a huge Buckeye fan and runs an online store called “Hoody Wayes” is quite awesome.

And then we discovered that Cat is Italian. Believe it or not, Troy and I are Italian; yeah, we don’t look like it. I know! Our Italian heritage is what we identify with most, eating ravioli for Thanksgiving, rigatoni and wedding soup on Christmas eve, and spaghetti every Sunday. Our family even had an Italian restaurant for a few years when we were growing up!

Cat’s a little cooler than we are with her Italia tattoo, but nonetheless, we’re excited for their wedding and to meet their families in South Bend for their wedding on October 9!

Christopher and Abby dreamed of their classy, summary, romantic wedding at First Baptist Church of Muncie, Indiana and Cornerstone Center for the Arts, and we were honored to be a part of it!

The Couple

He was completely different from all other guys she had met. For one thing, he was completely honest and upfront about his intentions from the beginning. Rather than simply texting her or suggesting they “hang out and watch a movie,” he wrote her letters and took her out to dinner. He became her best friend – challenging her in her faith, supporting her, laughing with her, and respecting her as a person.

They met in a Psych Statistics class– a perfectly romantic setting, don’t you think? They were placed in the same “project group” for the semester which meant countless hours working together in a computer lab. Strangely enough, she began to look forward to receiving Statistics homework….. 🙂

Their first date occurred in March and they began officially dating in April.

They dated for just over three years, tackling long-distance for over a year, facing countless challenges, and growing together. And now they’re MARRIED!

Their beautiful wedding was HOT with a heat index of more than 100 degrees, but their attitudes were perfect and now they have a lifetime of beautiful pictures!

The First Look

Christopher didn’t get to see this because he was turned the other way, but I love the look on Abby’s face when she turned the corner and saw him standing there just waiting for his bride!
